Quick Update

Wicked quick update!

I spent the weekend with family- visiting my twin and his kids and then having family dinner with our “God” children and their moms. I procrastinated a lot but also did a lot. I finished packing on Sunday and we weighed my bags, which surprisingly were not overweight. So I am bringing an extra checked bag and included all the stuff I deemed not imperative. All the people who have given me packing tips kept saying not to pack too many clothes because no one cares about how we dress and there’s access to a washing machine (or something like that). I have to admit that most of what I have packed is coffee and snacks. The essentials, you know.

We finalized the paperwork for Nik to be Gram’s healthcare power of attorney. Nik admitted the whole thing could have been a comedy special because Gram insisted on signing it herself and that literally took 8 minutes with a lot of stops and goes. Her room was filled with two witnesses, the notary, the social worker and then Nik and me. She was sitting in her chair, like a throne, with everyone standing around her. She loved the attention. She also loves talking about her dying, so this was a big day for her.

I dropped off my work computer and my security ID, so I am officially done with Planned Parenthood (for now). The plan is for me to work during my breaks because I am forced to take three months off in between missions. This will help me keep my license active in the US.

MSF said I can continue my blog but they have to approve everything I write. They said monthly posts would be best so they had time to read everything, so you may not hear from me as often but you will get updates. I also submitted my application to the writing fellowship that I am applying for! It was down to the wire! I should find out on March 10th what they decide.

You may not hear from me in a bit. Don’t worry! Thanks for everyone’s prayers or whatever you call them!
