107 years old!

She made it another year!

She was born April 13th, 1914.

She lived through the Spanish Flu and now COVID flu.

She went from international travel by boat to now air travel (which enabled her to travel the world with her last trip to New Zealand at age 90).

She saw women getting the right to vote and now a female Vice President.

She experienced Jim Crow and then desegregation as a school teacher in the south.

 She’s outlived all her siblings and her dear husband and his siblings.

She takes all the changes she sees in stride.

Every day she says she wakes up and is surprised she’s still alive (not a good surprise or a bad surprise, just a surprise).

Thank you all for helping to celebrate this woman!

She got all your cards (we definitely got the 107 we were hoping for!)

I’m so grateful for all the years I have had with her.

Know that our family loves you all and appreciates you all!

Make sure you let those you love how much they mean to you- you never know how long you’ll have.

I know my Gram never imagined she would have had this much time…

…but there are so many who don’t get to experience this dear world so long.

With all its hardships and misery, life also has so much joy and love!
