The Piano

My Mom found this picture of my Granddaddy Perkins with my nephew Sammie. This was probably 14 or 15 years ago. He died ten years ago. This picture really shows his personality. He was such a gentle soul- my mom describes him as a Mr. Rogers. He was so easy to love and my Gram was so much harder. She really was overshadowed by him while he was alive. I have had ten years to really get to know her and have a relationship with her. I’m so grateful for this time. I have so many memories of sitting on the same piano bench as a child while my gram played and I sang along.

I don’t think I have much to say. I just realized I hadn’t written since the 26th and I really want to write daily. I don’t think many people are reading these posts, which is fine- it is mostly to put the letters up on a place where family can read them. There’s an editor I am reaching out to who will hopefully help me to create a book proposal to give to a publishing company. I really hope to get this book published and marketed well so many people can read it and hear about my grandparent’s love story and my great love stories. I’m lucky to have two of them. Here’s the next letter from my Grandfather to my Grandmother…
