Thanksgiving 2015

Grammy Eugenia, age 101 with daughter, Sarah; grandson, Josh; great-grandson, Liam; great-daughter-in-law, Tasha; great- grandson, Sam; grandson, Jake; granddaughter, Jen; great-grandson, Tommy; great-granddaughter, Alana; son, Sam; and great-daughter-in-law, Nikki

I describe each person in the photo as my grandfather, Ted would have notated. He was a genealogist and very interested in how each person related to the other. He got a little tripped up when the modern day common divorces happened and step families became a thing, but he shook himself off and went with it. Everyone was family; you just had to look far enough back.

This Thanksgiving did not look the same as five years ago. It was much quieter and more socially distanced. I’m grateful for technology, in which we could zoom with the Maine relatives at the same time with the California relatives and with us in North Carolina. I think 2020 is the year in which I desperately search for silver linings and one of those is that this year makes me more grateful for the years past. (If that makes any sense at all).

I hope everyone else had a lovely Thanksgiving and you were able to get your full of food, fellowship and family in a safe way. I have hope that there’s a new dawn on the horizon with some new leadership and scientific breakthroughs. I will leave you with the next letter from my Granddaddy to my Gram.

Hope you get a sweet letter like this at least once in your lifetime…<3
