It’s real real now!

I am only posting a short update today because my to-list is out of control. I did want to say that I have my visa and have my official leave day! It is next week but I can’t disclose exactly what day due to security issues. If I have told you IRL my leaving date, please keep it to yourself! My mom will thank you! ;)

I went to Costco today to pick up all the important things. Coffee I heard in South Sudan is ok…but since I don’t drink alcohol, I’m a little bougie about this. I have no problem using a latrine or taking cold showers, or washing my underwear in a sink, but I must have good coffee! One of my colleagues that is already in South Sudan has been giving me all the packing tips and inside scoops!

I also went to the Dollar Store to load up on reading glasses (those things are life changing for folks without access to them. I found that out just by working at the Durham County Jail). If anyone wants to donate money for these kinds of things I’m bringing over, private message me and I can give you my PayPal or Venmo information. I’m happy to donate myself, but I know folks want to help out if they’re able. I think I am going to be the most prayed for person over there thanks to my mom’s church and my cousin Ann’s church. I will take whatever prayers you will give me!

Ok- I must get back to my to-do list! I cannot believe this is actually happening! I am overwhelmed with gratitude and feel so loved by everyone in my life!
